                    The Ekveera Devi temple is one among many temples in Maharashtra that sit atop a mountain. Their location makes sense when you realize that higher altitudes are cooler during the summer and offer a measure of safety along with a peaceful place to meditate and contemplate. 
             According to the temple history, this  Indian temple was constructed by the Pandavas during their exile in the forest.Once when the Pandavas visited this holy place, Ekvira Mata appeared in front of them. She instructed them to construct a temple for her. The Pandavas then actually constructed this beautiful Hindu temple in one night. The goddess is the incarnation of Renuka Devi. One needs to climb around 500 steps to reach the temple.

How to reach there,
                 As it is situated on Highway and prime destination for devotes from Mumbai and Pune, many private and State Transport (ST) busses are available to reach Ekvira temple. From Lonavala one can hire a cab or auto to reach Ekvira Aai Temple.

Karla Caves


Karla Caves are one of the ancient caves in Lonavala of Maharashtra that follows the mixed Indian and Buddhists style of rock-carved caves architecture. These caves are some of the largest rock-cut Buddhist shrines in India. These ancient Buddhist shrines were developed during two periods. The first period between 2nd century BC and 2nd century AD and second period between 5th century AD to the 10th century.




Karla Caves are very famous tourist destination because of their amazing architecture. Inscriptions and Stupas in the caves depict the ancient Buddhist architecture and culture. The early Buddhist school, Mahasamghika, is associated with these caves Karala Caves which is protected by the Archeological Department surrounds this Indian temple.

               Dagdusheth Halwai ganpati temple Pilgrimaidi         DagadushethHalwai  (Dagadusheth Gadve) was a Sweet maker (Halwai in Marathi). He originally came from Ausa, District Latur, Maharashtra and settled in Pune. After he gained fame as a Halwai, that became his surname. His original Halwai shop still exists under the name Kaka Halwai near Datta Mandir in Pune.     Mr. Dagdusheth Halwai was a successful sweetmeat seller and a rich businessman. In late 1800, he lost his son in a plague epidemic. This caused Dagdusheth and his wife to go into deep depression. Bhimashankar

                                   The distance from  Pune to Bhimashankar  is about 110 km. Government  MSRTC  buses  (non-luxury) run from Pune  to Bhimashankar every 30 minutes from 5:00 am till 4:00 pm. You can get State Transport  buses  from Shivajinagar,  Pune . The fare is Rs. 165 and it takes around 4-5 hours to  reach  there from  Pune from Pune to Nashik  road all the way upto Rajguru Nagar. After taking left from Rajgurunagar we took State highway 54 which directly takes you all the way up to the Bhimashankar. While majority of the SH 54 is in good condition but last 10-15 km before temple the road is in terrible condition and potholes all around and takes almost 40-45 minutes to cross this small patch.
