Shaniwar wada My own city             Shaniwar Wada is a very important place in Indian history. Built by the  Peshwas  of the Maratha King, t his ancient fort is built of stone and brick, and has high architectural value as well. However, only the stone part of the Wada could survive by  a combination of British military attacks and fires through the centuries. This  palace fort has nearly been destroyed.               The capital of the Maratha Empire shifted from Satara to Pune.                                    The distance from  Pune to Bhimashankar  is about 110 km. Government  MSRTC  buses  (non-luxury) run from Pune  to Bhimashankar every 30 minutes from 5:00 am till 4:00 pm. You can get State Transport  buses  from Shivajinagar,  Pune . The fare is Rs. 165 and it takes around 4-5 hours to  reach  there from  Pune from Pune to Nashik  road all the way upto Rajguru Nagar. After taking left from Rajgurunagar we took State highway 54 which directly takes you all the way up to the Bhimashankar. While majority of the SH 54 is in good condition but last 10-15 km before temple the road is in terrible condition and potholes all around and takes almost 40-45 minutes to cross this small patch.                Dagdusheth Halwai ganpati temple Pilgrimaidi         DagadushethHalwai  (Dagadusheth Gadve) was a Sweet maker (Halwai in Marathi). He originally came from Ausa, District Latur, Maharashtra and settled in Pune. After he gained fame as a Halwai, that became his surname. His original Halwai shop still exists under the name Kaka Halwai near Datta Mandir in Pune.     Mr. Dagdusheth Halwai was a successful sweetmeat seller and a rich businessman. In late 1800, he lost his son in a plague epidemic. This caused Dagdusheth and his wife to go into deep depression.
